Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I purchase Elettaria's pastries?

A: We are currently in the process of transitioning to wholesale. Pastries will be available at a store near you soon.

Due to the fresh nature of the product without preservatives, we currently do not ship.

Q: What does "Elettaria" mean?

A: Elettaria cardamomum is the plant name for cardamom, which is used in many of our pastries.

Q: What is cardamom?

A: We're glad you asked! Cardamom is a spice similar to cinnamon and nutmeg....kind of. Actually it's quite difficult to describe cardamom's unique taste in words. It's highly fragrant, rich, warm, exotic, has a slight kick. When added to our pastries, cardamom imparts a complexity to the flavor profile that you may not immediately identify....a "can't put my finger on it" type taste if you are unfamiliar with the spice. Long story short, we love it and hope that you will too!

Q: Are the pastries made with 100% organic ingredients?

A: Currently all animal-based ingredients are organic, this includes all dairy and eggs.

Q: What does "pasture-raised" mean?

A: Pasture-raised cows and hens roam freely on farm pastures. They are provided shelter, but are not caged or restricted in movement. Cows are free to do what they love most - graze throughout the day on grass. Hens are free to peck and forage with plenty of wing space.

Q: What is the difference between butter/milk/cream cheese that is organic, grass-fed, and pasture-raised?

Q: What is the difference between eggs that are organic, cage-free, free-range, pasture-raised?

Q: Are these pastries healthy?

A: Depends on your definition of healthy! Although all of our pastries are made with real food with no artificial or chemical ingredients, sorry to say that they are still dessert! At Elettaria we believe in a balanced, whole foods diet....with the occasional treat of course.
